Games played: Week 7

This last week was very short on board gaming, only managing to find time for a couple of solo games. I did however finally get to play a game that have been collection dust in my collection for far too long.

Arctic Scavengers

# of plays: 1

Arctic Scavengers was originally released back in 2009, but got a big upgrade with the release of Arctic Scavengers Base Game + HQ + Recon – basically a solid game with 2 expansion (which again can be broken into several modules you can introduce as you grow more familiar with the game). My play was a solo game, a game module made possible with the Recon-part of the game. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Arctic Scavengers, it is at heart a deck-building game, but with some pretty unique twists. You play as a tribe trying to gather the most people in a post-apocalyptic world, and bluffing actually play an important role in the game as you battle for the valuable resources. This aspect is missing from the solo game, so while the solo game is decent it lacks the “flavour” which makes Arctic Scavengers from other deck-building game.

Herbaceous

# of plays: 2

Herbaceous is a colour and quick card collection game. In solo play you basically play with half the deck so I usually end up playing two solo games back to back (with each play with one half of the deck). I did a review of the game back in January 2018 you could read if you’re not familiar with this little gem.
